In advertising, image editing of a photo used to be a timely process. A company that specialized in retouching used to handle jobs like photo correcting or altering the image (this would obviously add to the cost of ad production). Today, as digital photography has advanced so too has the digital photography techniques.
Computer retouching software like Photoshop can do everything a retouch house can do and more. Plus, money and time are also saved by keeping everything in-house. Another piece of equipment that's a big help with photo retouching is a scanner. This device copies film photos and converts them to digital images again eliminating the need for any outside help.
