October 31, 2008, Newsletter Issue #103: Pentax Offers a Deal for the Holidays

Tip of the Week

If you've been considering the purchase of a new digital camera, Pentax has just come out with a tempting deal. They've cut the prices on a cople of their best models and they're throwing in some nice extras.

Pentax has just cut the price of their K20D digital SLR and the Optio W60 waterproof compact point-and-shoot. Plus, between now and shipping to the continental US is free until November 8.

The K20D is a 14.6 Megapixel SLR that features Shake Reduction, a Live View 2.7" LCD, dust removal and a slew of other high-end features... such as a CMOS sensor designed specifically for this model. The K20D's chassis is stainless steel, while the body is fiber-reinforced polycarbonate. It's also sealed particularly well, making it more weather-resistant than most other SLR's.

Another feature SLR enthusiasts will appreciate: Pentax's mount is backward-compatible with their lenses all the way back to the K-mount days, though old K-mount lenses offer limited functionality.

The Optio W60 is the latest in the Pentax W line and adds some nice features. The lens is internal, but they've managed to pack a 5x optical zoom (8 - 140mmm 35mm equivalent) into this compact digital camera. The W60 also goes deeper, longer. You can shoot under water up to 13 feet down for as long as 2 hours. To top it off, the W60 is "cold proof," functioning at even sub-zero temperatures.

If either of these models fits the bill for your needs, you can take advantage of the lower prices at www.pentaxwebstore.com. Be sure to use the code PENTAXFREE to get the free shipping.
